After 21 years in the US Army, I attended Wichita State University where I graduated in December 2018.

I attended the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) Conference in the summer of 2022 and the KSHSAA (Kansas State High School Activities Association) conference in July 2023.
I was a substitute teacher in Douglass while attending Wichita State University, but was fortunate to finally secure a job teaching 6th and 8th-grade science in 2022. In addition to science, I also am an assistant football, basketball, and track coach.
I married Jennifer (Jennings) Phillips (DHS c/o 1993) in 1997. Jennifer is a pre-K teacher in Mulvan. We have five children. Tracy McVey, Elizabeth (McVey) Reichert (DHS c/o 2015) and also a pre-K teacher in Mulvane, Tyler and Travis (DHS c/o 2017) and Jayden (DHS c/o 2032)
We moved back to Douglass in 2014 after I retired from a 21-year career in the US Army. All of our children but Tracy live here in Douglass. Elizabeth, her husband Kyle, and her son Jacob (DHS c/o 2035) moved back to Douglass this summer.
We have a husky/shepherd mix named Riley and a schnauzer named Jackson.
