Language Arts
Endorsement in English Speakers of Other Languages in 2014
I am currently teaching 6th grade language arts, and I also teach reading intervention for the 6th-8th grades.
My teacher career started in 1996 as a fifth grade teacher at Seal Elementary in Douglass. I left Douglass in 2004 to purse an opportunity to write curriclum for Newton Learning. Two years later I started teaching third grade for Wichita Public Schools. I transitioned into a position for the district as a MTSS Facilitator. During that tenure, I presented professional development and provided classroom support. In 2014, I returned to Douglass and taught 6th grade social studies in the middle school.
I am married to Kevin Coombes, and we are both lifelong residents of Douglass. We have two children, Collier and Kendall. Collier works at Flint Hills golf course and will be attending Wichita State Tech to work on his nursing degree. Kendall is attending Wichita State University working on her teaching degree.
My favorite hobby is to travel especially to the mountains of Colorado. I also enjoy cooking, camping, hiking and spending time with my family. This summer I had the wonderful opportunity to travel and train for McGraw-Hill textbook company.
