General Information

Middle school students are allowed to check out two items, these include books and magazines.  A language novel, such as Maniac Magee or The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, is checked out to students for use in the classroom, but does not count as one of the two items.

Middle school library books are checked out for two weeks.  However, the library realizes that some books take longer to read.  If a book is overdue by one month, a note will be posted on the student's locker.  This will remind them to renew the book if they are still reading it, or to return the book if they are not reading it.  The middle school library does not fine students for late books.

Middle school students are responsible to take good care of the books checked out to them.  If a book is lost, the student will be charged to replace the book.  Normal wear and tear on a book is expected.  Often, rips and loose pages can be repaired with special library tape and glue. Students are asked to bring a book to the library that has damage.  However, if a book is damaged due to careless neglect, particularly water and mold damage, the student will be responsible to pay to replace the book.

There is a site called AR BookFinder at the following address:  http://www.arbookfind.com/UserType.aspx   You can type in the title or the author to see whether the book is available on AR.  You can also ask Mrs. Lovendahl to look up the book for you.
